SUPPORTING WOMEN & FAMILIES SINCE 1910

Resources

YWCA Regina’s shelters offer stability to our community’s most vulnerable women. We are committed to a community where all women and children have their basic needs met and look forward to creating a world in which everyone has a safe place to call home.

My Aunt's Place

In 2009, YWCA Regina launched My Aunt’s Place for emergency housing for single women and families. With guidance from the Housing First model of service, My Aunt’s Place focuses on developing relationships with landlords and seeking safe, affordable housing for the women and families who turn to us, while providing emergency housing services and supporting clients by meeting them where they are when they come for help, and providing support to assist them in getting to where they want to be.

Once a resident or family transitions out of My Aunt’s Place to a more permanent housing situation, an outreach staff member stays connected with them to ensure the necessary supports are in place to maintain stable housing. The facility accommodates 32 individuals nightly and operates at close to 100% capacity every night.

YWCA Regina is committed to a community where all women and families have their basic needs met. My Aunt’s Place is a temporary YWCA shelter for those confronted with the crisis of homelessness. With 24-hour staffing, the program is prepared to support women and families in moving towards stability.

YOU can support My Aunt’s Place and help us serve homeless women and families by making a donation.

If no beds are available, a shelter counsellor will work with you to find referrals and other supports that are available.

Isabel Johnson Shelter

YWCA Regina has provided a safe place for women and families experiencing domestic violence for more than 40 years at the Isabel Johnson Shelter. Our long-term commitment is to prevent gender-based violence, to break the cycle that perpetuates violence, and to work toward a violence-free community. The programs and services that we provide address both the need for immediate intervention and for long-term preventative work.

The Isabel Johnson Shelter is a safe place to stay while you work through future plans and a place to turn to by phone if you need someone to talk to about the abuse you’ve experienced. Our services are confidential and free of charge.

If you are a woman who needs to flee a violent or abusive situation, then you are eligible to stay, with or without children, without charge. When you call us, the staff member you talk to will ask some questions about your situation and will let you know whether there is space available or not. If Isabel Johnson Shelter is currently full, they will suggest other options for you and do everything possible to support you in finding a safe alternative.

Joan's Place

Joan’s Place provides a temporary shelter for single women who are experiencing homelessness.

Accommodates 20 individuals nightly for those confronted with the crisis of homelessness. Residents receive 24-hour support, case management, assistance with housing, and harm reduction support while determining their options for the future.

Please call 306-519-9558 or 306-525-2141 Extension 0 to inquire about bed availability.
