YWCA Regina’s Kikinaw Residence has 49 single rooms and two rooms for more than one person that are used for emergency situations. There are communal washrooms on each floor and shared kitchens on two of the floors. Each room is equipped with a small fridge, sink, storage space, and a bed with bedding.
We offer a safe and affordable home for single women. Many of the women who live with us were once homeless, and many live with mental illness and addiction. We provide support with daily life skills and problem solving. Our staff offer supportive counselling and referrals within the community which help women create stability for themselves.
As part of the residence, we offer support for teens, as well as those who have been released from a Federal Correctional Facility and are on parole.
If you wish to rent a room, please call 306-525-2141 and ask for the residence worker to inquire about availability. Since we are often at full capacity, we suggest calling after the 15th of the month to check if we have a room opening at the end of the month.
In 2009, YWCA Regina opened a permanent facility, housing single women and families. With guidance from the Housing First model of service, My Aunt’s Place focuses on developing relationships with landlords and seeking safe, affordable housing for the women and families who turn to us. In addition, an outreach staff member stays connected to families once they have left the shelter to ensure the necessary supports are in place to maintain stable housing. The facility accommodates 22 individuals nightly and operates at close to 100% capacity.
YWCA Regina is committed to a community where all women and families have their basic needs met. My Aunt’s Place is a temporary YWCA shelter for those confronted with the crisis of homelessness. With 24-hour staffing, the program is prepared to support women and families in moving towards stability.
