GirlSpace is a national YWCA “Turning Point Program” addressing key social issues facing young women.
GirlSpace provides leadership opportunities, promotion of healthy and positive self-esteem, awareness about violence and its root causes and participatory hands-on activities including creative expression, group discussion and physical activities. The program has incorporated an aboriginal component and includes enthusiastic guest speakers, a delicious snack and many opportunities for girls ages 12-16 to make friendships and gain confidence in themselves and their abilities.
For more information, contact our GirlSpace coordinator at 306-525-2141 ext. 127.
This program also runs in schools over lunch hour or after school for girls in grades 6-8. The volunteers would be responsible to facilitate a group with a co-facilitator for 8 weeks from an established curriculum. If you are interested in setting this program up at your school please contact our coordinator at 306-525-2141 ext. 127.
