Babysitting 101

With the YWCA Mission and Values as a solid foundation, Babysitting 101 will provide youth (12 and over) with the skills to confidently care for children in a residential setting and develop a strong mentor relationship. This two-day course includes the activities and training needed to create confident, independent, and responsible babysitters. This course is for any youth wanting to learn how to be an effective babysitter and to develop skills that will help them build an impressive resume.

"The Saskatchewan Safety Council highly recommends that students be at least 12 years of age to complete the course and be issued a graduation card. However, at the course leader's discretion, an 11 year old may be issued a graduation card IF the student is capable, mature and has completed all the course requirements" - Saskatchewan Safety Council.

Brochure

Topics include providing your child with the skills to effectively babysit children, basic first aid skills, fire safety, cooking basics, housekeeping skills, communication skills, and knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities. Youth who achieve a babysitting certificate through the YWCA will have the confidence to babysit children of all ages, and be prepared for any emergency.

Youth who achieve a graduation card will be empowered to provide activities that encourage movement and are a welcome alternative to the abundance of screen time activities available to children on a daily basis. Our goal is to provide training that will preserve the "power of play."

Payments can be made to the YWCA over the phone, online or in person. Payments will be required either before the course, or due on the first day of training in full.
