YWCA Week Without Violence
Each year during the third week of October, Canadians bond with people in over 90 countries around the world to mark YWCA’s Week Without Violence™, a week-long series of community events promoting diverse approaches to creating a violence-free world. More than 17,000 people in schools, workplaces and neighborhood organizations throughout Canada recognize this annual violence prevention initiative aimed at making violence a thing of the past.
YWCA Regina celebrates the week with the Annual Peacemakers Breakfast and our Power of Being You conference which is offered to high school students and will be held at the Hotel Saskatchewan on October 14th, 2015. The conference’s aim is to respond to local community needs and focus on a variety of issues, including self-esteem, healthy relationships, dating, discrimination, body image, bullying and gender roles, among others. The Power of Being You conference is a great way to include both young men and women in the conversation about violence prevention.
